WELFARE STATE

Our main character in this novel is Michael. He is a product of the world that has sunk to the ultimate totalitarian government.

Even since the recession of 08 and the never-ending, non-recovery, our population has grown increasingly dependent on the ruling government for its survival.

The great wars of the previous century destroyed the largest marked difference engine that had been in place for as long as anyone remembered. Male verses female. At the same time, we had in place, racial divides in various strengths. Black, brown, yellow, red, and white. The political powers had aligned into two major points of view. One using the American dream to ignite productivity, ensuring our dominance in the world, and one emphasizing social divide, with the remedy of total dependence on the government and a world order of organizing resources.

In order to push their agendas politicians promised free food, free housing, free utilities, free education, and free health care only to charge us by taking our free speech, freedom to choose, freedom to defend ourselves, and even the freedom to think in any particular way, all in the name of one safety or another. It is the only way they can keep their luxurious way of life going.

When pockets of resistance developed, they created, invented and/or discovered many ways to keep the population divided. We had new plagues which allowed the government to assume emergency powers. We divided the population into ever increasing sub groups, skin color, religion, sex, sexual preference, eye color, height, freckles, baldies, weight, income, and wealth; keeping the people segregated and hateful. We learned from influenced scientists that we were going to have droughts, an ice age, run out of fossil fuels, global warming, and when proof couldn’t be found, the climate change blanket. All of this was designed to keep us in fear and a constant state of mistrust.

More and more, the population came to depend on the government. They were taught in indoctrinating schools that this was necessary and anyone that denied it was a threat to our very existence. This allowed them to extend our social security system, welfare, in the name of eliminating want and need; taking complete control of our health system, so they could decide who was treated and who didn’t get treated, essentially, who lived and died, in the name of eliminating disease; controlling what was taught, especially history and political correctness, in the name of eliminating ignorance; creating entire communities of adequate, poor quality, minimal need, housing and preferred recreations, in the name of eliminating squalor; assigning work loads that catered to an individuals talents and energy, through a series of government controlled testing and cataloging, all in the name of eliminating idleness and high levels of statistical employment.

We all know how the new world order expects today, every day, to go, we sleep in bunk houses, segregated by sex as to disallow any unauthorized sex. Segregated by age as to disallow any communications between the generations until the young minds are properly conditioned. Monitored by camera, mic, and plants. Your turn to shower, relieve yourself, and receive your daily issued jumpsuit (the color of your issued jumpsuit indicates the job classification of the day) are timed by the overseers and their public announcements. Any variance from the assigned pathways and proscribed duties, for it is your duty to clean and dress yourself, are swiftly punished. The meal is the same, protein cake, salt tablet and carbo-drink. Fairly tasteless and non-descriptive but nutritious enough to allow for minimal energy. Everyone eats in silence to discourage any exchange of ideas or alternatives; the meal break is 15 minutes. You follow the appropriate colored line (that matches your jumpsuit) to the transportation that awaits, open bed trucks, no seats, no roof, just conveyance to the job of the day. You may be part of a labor force to do grunt physical labor, you may have shown aptitude for filing, data entry, cleaning, kitchen work, etc. specialists are chosen early in life through the testing, your life’s path is decided before you are 10.
