MOON STAGING BASE
5/5/20
The moon outpost. that has been established since the early 2030s, provides a permanent human presence on the moon and an ideal environment for the travel gate experiments. Our scientists are eventually afforded space and monies to proceed. They have to devote a large portion of their time and talents to the developmental department of the lunar base.

The main living quarters for lunar personal are Inflatable modules that resemble igloos and use inflatable supports and radio masts. The modules use algae-based air filters and nuclear reactors.
Storage for food and medical supplies use floating modules. Cylinders lying on their side float on the lunar dust, half buried within the thick dust. Surface sections of the station would be linked together and the entire structure would be protected with a micro-meteoroid shield.
Most of the research labs and the medical units were house in a large underground complex. Sub-surface sections are connected by underground tunnels. This provide protection from radiation poisoning amongst other things.
Several military outposts surround the lunar city. All the lunar transport vehicles were under the command of the military. These inhabitants were rotated more often and had their own virtually secure communications channels (VSCC).
Discovery of latent, dormant lava tubes provided near perfect farming tracts. Warm and self-sealed they held their own modified atmosphere that was designed for perfect plant growth.
The Gate engineers brought carbon-fiber modules they would assemble on reaching the moon. They’re location was on the cold, dark side of the moon along with most of the mining enterprises.
