Just past the turn of the century, a world government movement started to take hold in parts of the world. Most of the world took a live and let live attitude. The larger countries benefited from the reliance of others on them and, for the most part, they were immune to oversight.

However, soon there were political movement within the larger countries, Germany, Great Britain, and even the United States. Russia and China seemed to be in step although not consumed and they used conflicts in other parts of the world to promote their own influence. This influence was a pseudo world government so their efforts to consolidate third worlds countries into puppet players actually moved the world rule closer.

Conquering the larger western cultures could not be accomplished militarily. Stalin, Mousseline, Napoleon, and Hitler had all tried that. Rather, a more subtle and nefarious method had to be used.

Dividing the western countries into sub groups was easy enough using imagined differences and inequities. Reprograming of the young as Stalin and Hitler realized would be a big part. The media would need to be controlled or consumed. When the time was ripe and people were more at war with one another than worrying about what their government was up to, a polarizing catastrophe would ignite the internal social revolution.

In my scenario, a bio-weapon was created. No one knew who made it, where it came from, or if it was ever meant to be released. It was a simple disease, much like a cold or the flu and wasn’t even particularly deadly, but it spread quickly.

The world molders, later to be know as the Elites, seized on this fast spreading virus to spread, with the unwitting help of the mass media giants, to sew panic and fear through out the world. Leaders that believed they would be included in the Elite society, pounced and took control; for the good of the people. Movement and gathering was brought to an end so no groups could gather in large enough force to oppose them. Communication was censored so only the narrative they wanted could get out. As a result, food chains were disrupted, power and basic necessities stopped, poverty reigned, and everyone had to turn to the government for survival.

Those that saw through the ruse and raised alarms were shamed and made out to be the enemy of the people.

Wells were outlawed, generating your own power was regulated and discouraged, even planting and growing your own food was forbidden. Everything was confiscated by the government for distribution in a ‘fair’ manner.
