A CHANGED WORLD

In Mark's world the society has degenerated into an elite vs surf conflict. The all powerful governing class used deception and muscle to seize control many years before Mark was born and used that control to milk off all the sweet elements of life. The serfdom was pushed farther and farther down into poverty, hunger and despair. (I know right?)

Even though I started writing this book in the late 1990s my other series took off faster.

The natural result of such a society is, of course, a series of revolutions. The early revolts were crushed easily and the masses were punished for daring to oppose the elite. but with each uprising the surf class grew more reckless. They had less and less to lose so they were emboldened to the point of near inhalation. With the working class shrinking the elitist found they had no one to do the dirty tasks they felt above.

Sympathy began to grow among the ruling people for no other reason than to keep the lowliest preforming the dirty work that is the engine of any society.

This is the time of Mark's life. The point at which an oppressive tyrannical government begins to lose its iron fisted grip on the population and the cycle begins anew.
