SLEEPER FLEET
4/9/20
With Earth’s ability to continue supporting the human population, Doctor Heinman headed the team of cryogenic explorers. For the last ten years he and his team had been developing the ‘Master Plan’. It began as a privately funded endeavor. An extremely wealthy investor saw the end as Dr. Heinman did and, for the price of having his own family and their cryogenically secured embryos on board, he had shelled out the initial funding for Heinman’s sleeper fleet.
The freeze tubes were easy enough to build, the selection of a minimal stock of genes, plant and animal variety, and supplies was difficult and consumed much of the team’s time.
By the time they were ready to assemble the transport of the colonial cargo, they had exhausted all their participating donor’s invested capitol and had to go before the world government’s funding council to fund the completion of their dream.
This, of course, brought with it, overwhelming input from dozens of unqualified diplomats and politically correct parameters that delayed their mission even more. Dr. Heinman hoped they could get enough cooperation to save humanity on a distant planet.
This will be our topic on Thursdays so plan to catch the ongoing saga each week.
